DIPTYQUE

Two exclusive pieces created for Diptyque, a nod to the I and Y of the name, for the sixty years of the house.

Milies, blazing suns, singing fountains, marked shadows, parasol shield, Proto-Corinthian ceramics, terracotta… A whole series of key words that we used to slip into the history of Diptyque, Greek summers and the universe always carried by the curiosity and search for small treasures of Christiane Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet, the three founding members of the house.

The Y vase should be seen as a tribute to this passion for Greece. Inspired by the aryballos, ancient pieces intended to contain perfumed oils, the vase is topped by a large disc with circular grooves to evoke, through light and shadow, the traditional geometric designs in black slip on terracotta. The symmetrical handles echo the oval base of the vase, a repetition of three like the three creators of Diptyque.

Vase I, a double-sided piece and aryballos circled in an oval, is an obvious reference to the perfume house and its graphic and aesthetic history. The radiance of the sun and the freshness of the fountains in memory of the Greek town of Milies where Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet liked to return each summer. It is also an evocation of the dreamy designs and black and white geometric patterns developed by Desmond Knox-Leet for textile creations and the packaging of bottles.

Limited series of 80 copies for the I and 20 copies for the Y, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
